Who you are dealing with

Board Vision is operated by Lorne Benjamin Sonley, a sole trader based in Switzerland. Where these terms say we, that is who they mean.

Where they say you, they mean the rider using Board Vision — on this site, in the web app, or in the iOS app. One set of terms covers all three.

What Board Vision does

You upload one clip of one carve. Board Vision tracks 33 body landmarks through every frame, reduces them to three signals — lean, compression and twist — and reports which movement led, by how many frames, and how tightly the two curves tracked as one motion.

Carves only, frontside or backside, one per clip. There is no score, no grade and no baseline, and nothing is measured against another rider's turn. Where coverage falls below 60% — too few frames in which every signal was readable — the clip is turned down rather than guessed at.

That is the whole of it. Everything the service does is a measurement of the clip you gave it.

It is not advice on what is safe

A read-out describes what a body did in a few seconds of footage. It is not advice on what you should attempt, where you should surf, or what your body can take.

Board Vision is not medical, physiotherapy or injury advice, and it is not a substitute for a coach who can see the wave you are on. Surfing carries risk that no measurement removes. What you do in the water is yours.

Your account

One account per rider. Use an email address you can actually reach — it is how a subscription, a refund and a deletion request all get confirmed.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

You need to be 16 or older to have an account.

Your clips stay yours

You own your footage. Uploading it does not change that, and it does not give us any claim over it.

You grant us only what running the analysis requires: to decode the clip, normalize it, measure it, keep the result, and play it back to you. Nothing wider than that.

We do not train models on your clips. The pose model Board Vision uses is a fixed, off-the-shelf file that ships inside the server — it does not learn, and your footage goes into neither it nor anything else. We do not publish your clips, share them, or sell them.

What you may upload

Footage you have the right to upload. Where other people are identifiable in the frame, making that acceptable is your responsibility rather than ours.

Do not upload anything unlawful, anything filmed where consent was required and not given, or anything that is not a person riding a board. Do not try to break the service, flood it, or work backwards from it.

We may refuse or remove a clip that breaches this, and close an account that keeps doing it.

Your allowance

Free: three analyses. Not three a month — three, for the life of the account, and they do not renew.

Pro: thirty analyses a month, counted over a window that opens on the day you first subscribed and runs one calendar month. That day stays where it is when the subscription renews.

Only a completed analysis spends allowance. A clip we could not read, a clip that came in under the coverage floor, an error on our side, a sign-in we would not accept — none of them cost you anything.

The server is the only authority on the count. The apps find out what your allowance is by being refused, which is why a refusal is never a mistake you can argue with in the app.

What Pro costs

$9.99 a month, or $79.99 a year. Your local currency and any tax are worked out at checkout. There is no free trial — the free allowance is the trial.

A subscription renews until you cancel it. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves Pro running to the end of the period you have already paid for.

What you can get back, and who you get it back from, is set out in the Refund Policy — it differs depending on whether you subscribed on the web or on an iPhone.

Carves are the only maneuver Board Vision understands today. Snaps, wraps and cutbacks are coming, and the limits described on this page will move when they arrive.

We do not promise the service is up at any particular moment, and we may change how it works or withdraw parts of it. Where a change materially reduces what a paid subscription buys, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period.

Ending it

You can stop at any time — cancel the subscription, or ask us to delete the account outright. What happens to your clips when you do is set out in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is being used against the service, or where the law requires it. Where a paid period is cut short for any reason other than a breach by you, we refund the rest of it.

What we are liable for

Board Vision is a measurement tool. We do not accept liability for what you decide to do in the water, for injury, for footage you lose, or for anything a read-out led you to believe.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing on this page removes a right you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away.

Changes, and whose law applies

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so here and change the date at the top. Carrying on using Board Vision after that is how you accept them.

The law of Switzerland governs this agreement and its courts have jurisdiction — subject to any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
